I am perplexed.....debates do not show it all....that is for certain..... but what they do!

I am perplexed....Is it of any value that I write this or will it fall, like so many earnest expressions in our history, on deaf ears? So often have they done so that there are defensive phrases invented to lessen the alienation of the ignored utterer: casting pearls before swine,.. trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, are just two of the more common ones that slip protectively into mind.

These phrases are not just unfortunate in their roughness but miss the point in that the ignorant do not wish to be so, and are more accurately reflecting the environmental paucity of their upbringing, its continuation through the adult years and for some, bitterness toward any equal treatment for others primarily because, as they have experienced it, they received none.

For those of the latter group, mainly because of their meanness, I harbour barely controlled disappointment, in fact I hug the fence defining the landscape of my derision.

These are the bullies in our society, and like emaciated wolves ,their ears perk up, body and fur stiffening, white fangs glistening wetly, at the mere sound of anyone, (other than self) getting anything, for apparently nothing. We know these people as "Neo-Conservatives/Conservatives", and there is no helping these petty and vindictive souls, short of 6 months, night shifts, in the children's burn ward.

Why because they do not, or cannot see compassion and empathy as the extremely necessary tools for integrating change into our society, that they are, but rather as an insipid, creeping weakening of morals and beliefs that they see as always arriving together with change, change from the status quo. Compassion and the ability to empathize with our neighbour-citizens, harmonize, reduce violence, and insecurity with time and the understanding of the apparent differences that come to our communities with change.

These people should never be given positions of authority or social relevance, except over perhaps inanimate, impersonal objects such as: banks or corporations, where their tasks would be limited to counting things, letters, applications or time cards or other such relatively unimportant "things" but never should they be involved, as they are and have been, (Liberal govt. of B.C. or the Conservatives govt. federally) with anything connected to the development or implementation of policies and activities that actually affect, the fairness, the health and the quality of lives, our lives.

Next door to us we have, in Barak Obama, been provided with a great example....and I ask you...is there anything even close to that kind of compassion or empathy in the Liberals that lead us, people like Gordon Campbell. I mean at least beyond the obvious lying he does about his past activities in this province. There is no comparison between the likes of Gordon Campbell and a human being like Barak Obama and we are the worse off for not choosing his like.

In the last debate on the CBC between Carol James, Gordon Campbell and, Jane Sterk you can see it in Gordon Campbell as he speaks...his staring eyes as he tries so hard to speak a sentence that best sells, pushes his point of view..he does not believe in what he says...he can barely keep it straight in his mind. When he speaks,... his mind is always on businesses not on people, that is a side issue, a cumbersome annoying side issue. Because he needs your vote to continue to hand to business the dearest treasures of British Columbia ....for sale..back to us. Why? Because he will have established his family securely in the upper echelons of business elite in B.C. for the future. He does this at the cost of your futures and the futures of your children, where is the fairness in this? How can we allow this to continue?

I have been a businessman. I have run a number of successful businesses in my life, I am not against businesses...yet even I can see that we have handed our governance over to business and their policies, as if only they understand economic management. This may be a primacy of business but it is not exclusive to them, mark the recent greed-created global meltdown. Every household knows the value of a balanced budget. But let's face it, as business environments become ever more favourable for them, at our cost, we are losing the structure of our communities with the inevitable increase in crime, costs, unemployment, ill health, insecurity, and life dissatisfaction. The choices are clear my fellow citizens: further integration with the ups and downs of the corporate market, at great cost to our families and futures or start putting back a little heart and regain sane, life-affirming, loving and economically thriving communities. ....Please my friends vote NDP...vote for yourself, for your families for your future for a caring world. It starts with you..don't let them snake oil you...not one more time. Remember our senior citizens and how they have been treated? All that mattered was the money (and yes of course that matters... perhaps more for the NDP than the Liberals believe it or not...but they do not want you to get into credit card debt as the corporate agenda would wish...I know) so the seniors were split up, shuffled off to parts far from their communities. Remember how concerned business was with all the retirement savings invested in the stock market...not at all...the government was the one that worked on that issue.

When the NDP explains their policies they express them in terms of families, workers, children and the quality of their lives. Where honesty matters, integrity and yes...love and respect. Vote NDP... the choice then is clearly for you and for people.

When you are the most annoyed with them,

is when your children need you most.

Straight Talk: Gordon Campbell’s Privatization of British Columbia

If you still don't think our nefarious premier, Gordon Campbell, is privatizing the services and resources of B.C., then your right to vote should be taken from you forthwith, in fact sooner.

Gordon Campbell has been handing the hard work of B.C.ers over to private enterprise for 13 years and the costs in cash health and security for us citizens is incalculable.

Whats next..you may ask?

Sale and corporate ownership of B.C. Hydro.. our public electricity utility! Whole sections of our rivers have been sold to private interests!

I kid you not people,…you have to take some time and start looking at what your Liberal Govt. is really doing with your assets …..Your assets!.... You own them we get them cheaper because we own them. ....Is this not clear?!

Sometimes I really feel that I live in a province of idiots…I know this is rough talk but really this is very important… how moronic can people be,.. to own something ….sell it…and then buy it back piece meal, at higher, inflated, profit making prices, because that is what business does..…remember!?

And how much farther along in time will it be before those "whole sections of rivers" are little areas for selling the water itself?… Because ..that too is in the works.

And if you can believe your scoundrel of a premier on anything he says to the contrary … just ask the health care workers who were promised, by that scam artist, that:

"I don't believe in ripping up agreements….I have never said I would tear up any agreements….I am not tearing up any agreements." Check the link...

Link

What did he do once in power?…He tore up the blooming agreement! He slashed their wages (just great for the economy) replaced 6,000 public workers, (just great again, for the economy) and replaced them with privatized low paid workers. (What kind of human being is this?...I wouldn't let him borrow my car for goodness sake. What kind of moral and ethical being is this?)

And was this the end of it…noooo. He was taken to court for this outlandish lying and was ordered by the Supreme Court to fix things up. (What did that cost us! ..Again, great for the economy.) ….Stay tuned.

This man is an accident waiting to happen, this man is without integrity, without honour and he proved it. Yet this is the man in charge of the entire resources of our province. He wants us to vote for him,....again.... we would have to be out of our minds to do that or just so disgusted with it all that we just don't care anymore…we must care.

There are more examples I could share …and I will over the next while.. …count on it!

Wondering what you can do about it?

Thinking to yourself that maybe…maybe…this kind of irresponsible treatment of our children's inheritance should STOP!?

Feeling that maybe you should do something to counter the lying, thieving and scheming behavour of our premier? (Is this how our premier should be behaving…do you see any similarity between him and Barak Obama? Not a speck ..right?)

Then vote NDP!....

And do it now at an advance poll.

You/We…. cannot afford the Liberals again.

Liberals…What are they good for?!

Ok!.... another lovely day the sun is out and the family will be barbequing today!!!

There are plenty of us here in Victoria that not only do not have the equipment to barbeque, they do not even have the food. Imagine that! In this day and age, regular folks regular working folk, and to no fault of their own cannot get enough food to defeat the tiredness of the days efforts.

Shame on Gordon Campbell…his freezer is full I'll bet and filled with heart!

Now to my riding in Oak Bay-Gordon Head,…. Where, we have suffered the cold silence of Ida Chong since 1996. Now I guess that is to be expected (Ida is a Certified General Accountant), and please understand I know that we need such people in the background counting pennies for those who do the real "social" work in our society. But hear me clearly people, they have no place involving their cold penny pinching hands in developing public policy! We in this society, and you can ask the seniors who remain and fought for this country during the war, and who now sit in cold, sterile seniors homes, if counting money is all that is needed to protect the vulnerable in our society. I have visited them. Seniors, at the hands of privatization, have been shunted off to make-do, and boring facilities that do nothing for those cold, end-of-life fears that creep into the heart as you feel that empty pain in your chest again. The loneliness, the isolation, the alienation with so much free time to contemplate the end of ones life you are literally dying for some creative diversion, and is it forthcoming? Not if it costs anything, and I kid you not, it will then be…another seniors trip to the mall! No.

We need people who have a heart and do not equate the lives around them solely from the point of view of dollar. What we need are people who care about people to make policy, and only then do we need the penny pinchers to find ways to get the wherewithal to make those life affirming improvements, for our loved and respected elders. And we as taxpayers should be ashamed of ourselves for only thinking of ourselves and our wallets without concern for the decaying society around us.

Taxes are there to helps us too when we are disadvantaged …as many of us are finding out now in this downturn in the global economy. Taxes keep the standard of living high, keep our environment secure and maintained. B.C. is decaying. Taxes are an honourable and noble involvement in the wellbeing of our local community, our society at large and the quality of our lives… and… express our self-respect.

So where is Ida Chong on this and the many other important issues that face us now …and will, when we are seniors ourselves?............
Ida's Gone AWOL!!??..........

Oak Bay News Editor, Don Descoteau, picked Ida Chong as this week's "newsmaker of the week" on Shaw TV's 'The Daily', citing her absence from every all-candidates debates thus far. In fact all Chong will involve herself in are photo-ops, or controlled sites outside this riding where she faces no questions.

It is not just her record over the last 13 years that raise so many questions, it's when Ida Chong does involve herself in our wellbeing that really gives us a frosty picture of her self-serving leanings. And we should have answers. Read this in the Times Colonist. If you think Ida Chong is working for you, get it straight she does not. Here is just a quote of a very hard to read story on betrayal….betrayal of us and our children's future enjoyment and control of our provincial resources……

"An attempt by the CRD to minimize the damage caused by the province's decision, by passing new zoning bylaws, was undone by then-community services minister Ida Chong. Chong let the bylaws languish in her office for six weeks before she signed them, allowing Western Forest Products to launch development applications for more than 300 acreage properties under the old, less restrictive bylaws".

How do these Liberals sleep at night?!

Till next time, stay calm, the kids did not really mean it and they really do love you.

Community and heart.

Still more of The SAME

Lovely Saturday here in Victoria, an auspicious occasion as this is my first blog attempt, and ...entry.

I am, like many of you/us, just fed up with the politics of fear and division and would like some straight talk on the issues that matter to us all.

I am a married man and a father of 3 fantastic children….honestly they are…they are just like yours, (causing me more self introspection in one month than in any of the years before they were born). What has become of common sense? What has become of working for the people?... Am I wrong to consider government just an extension of us taxpayers who are otherwise too busy working and looking after our families to look after roads, and health care, and the economy, and budget, and our kids education system, etc. etc. than to do it ourselves? I am sick and tired of the lies and the bull. I am sick and tired of conversations with family and friends being on the subject of selfish, unresponsive governments who seem more interested in having us see so many angry differences in each other than to unite us in common interests and concerns and get us behind some real improvement in our province, for the benefit of us all.

Perhaps unfortunately, politics affects all aspects of our lives, and to the degree it does I am motivated to speak up for truth, integrity and justice and do so with the same passion and energy as the still resident B.C. government and their like, are doing for spin, division and prejudice.

Spin, Division and Prejudice: imagine that, why would anyone, our Government particularly and supposedly working on our behalf, want to spread those ugly things within the ranks of the hardworking taxpayer? I want to explore that over the next while and provide as many examples to illustrate my points as is possible Perhaps you will help me out…but you have to have proof.

Till next time, stay calm, the kids did not really mean it and they really do love you.
